Becoming a surrogate mother is an involved, long-term commitment, so you’re naturally going to have questions. What follows are some of the most common questions potential surrogates ask us…
Q: How Long Does the Surrogate Process Take?
A: Each surrogate pregnancy is unique, but we find that most surrogate processes take between 12 and 14 months.
Q: How Much Does a Surrogate Earn?
A: Our surrogates are compensated well for a variety of expenses, including their time, effort, and sacrifice. Depending on the pregnancy, our surrogates can earn up to a $50,000 compensation package per pregnancy. All of your medical expenses will be covered, and you will also be compensated for incidentals, such as gas and parking for medical appointments, maternity clothing, and even a cleaning service to help out around the house during your third trimester!
Q: Who Will Cover the Medical Expenses?
A: All of your medical expenses relating to the pregnancy and delivery will be covered by the intended parents.
Q: Can I Choose the Family?
A: Yes! Every surrogate and every intended family has the ability to screen one another and come to a mutual agreement on who they want to work with. It’s our goal to find compatible matches that will make the surrogacy process an enjoyable, rewarding experience for everyone involved, and part of reaching that goal includes making sure everyone is comfortable with who they are working with.
Q: Where Will I Receive My Medical Care?
A: In most cases, you will receive your prenatal care and deliver the baby in your local area.
Q: Are the Intended Parents Screened, Too?
A: Yes! Just as we carefully screen each and every one of our surrogate mothers, we also carefully screen each and every couple that wants to become parents with us. You will always have control over what couple you work with during the experience because we are dedicated to finding compatible matches that make for the best possible journey for all involved.
Q: What Happens If I Have Questions or Concerns Along the Way?
A: Each surrogate mother we work with is assigned a caring, knowledgeable caseworker to help her throughout the experience. Should you find yourself with any questions or concerns during your surrogate experience, simply contact your caseworker and she’ll help!
